LAKE ALFRED, FL (AUGUST 2006) – The first of four candidates applying for the Assistant Professor Food Microbiologist Faculty Position at the UF/IFAS Citrus Research and Education Center will be presenting her seminar entitled “The Use of Metabolic Enzymes and Substrates on Amylopectin Content and Infectivity of Cryptosporidium parvum.” The seminar will be held in Room 2 of the Ben Hill Griffin Hall, CREC, Lake Alfred, at 11:00 a.m. on August 22, 2006.

Ms. Angela Hartman is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Food Science and Technology department at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI). Her doctoral research is in the area parasite detection and determination of infectivity using molecular methods. She expects to complete the requirements for her Ph.D. degree by early October 2006. Ms. Hartman has also performed research in the area of Alicyclobacillus spp. control in fruit juices for both her M.S. work at VPI and for a major consumer products company.
