There has been a change in e-mail policy in Gainesville which will require us all to make a few minor changes in People Soft; Gainesville (IFAS) has issued instruction for all IFAS personnel to use their ufl.edu e-mail address as their official address. There is a good side and a bad side to this requirement. The good side is that ufl.edu is much shorter than crec.ifas.ufl.edu, but the bad side is that they have file size limitations and changing will require a little effort on our part. An unfortunate situation presents itself in this because when most of us created our gatorlink accounts we were told to use anything we liked because it was only for gatorlink, but now we need to insure those user names are business appropriate. The process to change a gatorlink ID is difficult at best but will be necessary so those who do not have acceptable IDs should let us know right away; ideally we would like to have the same ID for both CREC and gatorlink.

Gary will be in training for 1 week and then on vacation after that. Mike returns and there will be much to catch up on. Allan is working on web pages, Dr. Salyani's laser, some infrastructure issues.

May 7-21st
Mike will be in Ft. Lauderdale training for Routers and Switches. This will aid CREC because our Cisco infrastructure is our first line of defense.

April 11-30th
Several new computers were deployed. IT deployed a new patch management WSUS. Plans were made for a very busy May.

Allan will be in training in Orlando all week for automation and scripting in a networked environment

Support Web site placed on-line - ISD launches its new and improved support website. 12 hours per week will be dedicated to creating a useful tool for everyone at CREC to use.
