Research Scientist

This 12-month, non-tenure accruing position is a 100% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) appointment on location at the Citrus Research and Education Center, Lake Alfred, FL. 

The areas of interest include work on molecular genetics and development of management strategies for greening (huanglongbing) and tristeza diseases of citrus and other exotic diseases that are potential threats to the Florida citrus industry. 

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology or related field, and must have proven ability in reverse genetics and molecular biology of plant viruses, plus experience in diagnostic plant pathology. At least two years postdoctoral experience is required. The ability to plan, conduct, and publish high-quality research and attract extramural funds is essential. The candidate should be motivated and willing to travel nationally and internationally and to establish international research collaborations.
